Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information — name, email, phone number (optional), and profile photo, either entered directly or provided by Google Sign-In.
• Location — to find nearby mosques and, if you enable it, to power Automated Jamat Verification (below).
• Contributions— prayer time submissions/corrections, mosque details, photos, and the "I know this person" connections that build community trust signals (see our editorial policy).
• Push notification tokens — a per-device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging), only if you enable notifications.
• Basic usage data — device type, IP address, and pages visited, for security and aggregate usage understanding. We do not run advertising trackers (no Facebook Pixel, no ad network).

Location data & Automated Jamat Verification

The app can request background location access ("Allow Always") to power Automated Jamat Verification: an optional feature that detects when you physically arrive at a mosque's geofenced coordinates, so it can confirm that mosque's jamaat time is currently accurate without you doing anything.

• No movement history. We do not log, store, or maintain a history of your locations, routes, or movements — on our servers or on your device.
• Local-first processing.Geofence proximity is checked on your own device. It only transmits an anonymized presence confirmation (essentially a timestamp of arrival) to update that mosque's jamaat time — never your raw coordinates or a movement trail.
• Fully optional. You can grant, deny, or revoke background location at any time in your device settings without losing the ability to manually search for mosques and view prayer times.
• Never sold. Location data is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics firms.

Phone number & the donation feature

Adding a phone number to your profile is entirely optional and not required for any core feature. If you add one as a mosque's Imam or Muezzin, it enables a "Donate" button on your public profile that other logged-in users can use to reach you on WhatsApp for voluntary community contributions. See our Terms of Service for the full donation-feature disclaimer. We never process payments ourselves, and your number is never shared with advertisers. You can remove it from your profile at any time.

How we use this information

To run the service: show relevant mosques and prayer times, attribute contributions so other users can judge their credibility, verify jamaat times via the features above, send notifications you've opted into, and keep the platform secure. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

Who we share it with

Service providers that make the app work — Google (Sign-In, Google Maps), Apple Maps, Firebase (push notifications), and our hosting infrastructure — process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. Mosque details and prayer times you contribute are public and visible to all users, as is a phone number you choose to add (visible only to other logged-in users, for the donation feature above). We don't share data with advertisers or data brokers.

Child safety

LivePrayerTime strictly prohibits any form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on our platform. We provide mechanisms to report inappropriate content and take immediate action on such reports. Report any concern to liveprayertime@gmail.com. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or remove your profile information from within the app at any time, disable location access or notifications at the OS level, and delete your account entirely (see the app's account deletion option). Public contributions you made while active — a jamaat time you verified, for example — may remain visible, attributed anonymously, since they describe a mosque's schedule rather than you personally.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
