Who can edit a jamaat time

Any registered user can submit or correct a mosque's jamaat time. We don't require proof of affiliation with a mosque before someone can contribute — the same as a physical noticeboard outside a mosque, anyone who actually knows the current time can update it.

How corrections work

There is no approval queue. When a user submits a time, it becomes the mosque's current verified time immediately. If someone else later submits a different time — the schedule genuinely changed, or the previous entry was wrong — their edit replaces it the same way. In practice this is self-correcting: a mosque with regular contributors converges on the right time quickly, because it's in everyone's interest to keep it accurate.

How disagreements get resolved

We don't arbitrate disputes between contributors — there's no formal appeals process, and no LivePrayerTime staff member decides who's "right". This is deliberate: the people best placed to know a mosque's actual jamaat time are the people who pray there, not us. If a time looks wrong, the fix is the same as the correction process above — submit the right one. What we do provide is the context to judge a contributor's credibility for yourself (next section), rather than a top-down verdict.

How to judge who edited a time

Every mosque page shows who last verified its times and how credible that contribution is, so you don't have to take it on faith:

• Verified-by line.Each mosque page states who verified the current time, and how many other community members have vouched that they know that person personally — for example, "✓ Verified by [name], known personally by 12 community members." A time verified by someone many locals recognize carries more weight than an anonymous one-off edit.
• Mosque leadership badges.Where a mosque's Imam Sahab or Muezzin (Muajjin) is registered and verified on the platform, their edits are labeled with that role, not shown as an anonymous contribution.
• Top Contributors.Each mosque page lists the community members who actively maintain its prayer times, with a contribution tier and when they last updated something — so you can see whether a mosque has an active, engaged maintainer or hasn't been touched in a while.

Calculated vs. verified

Until a real person submits a mosque's actual time, we show a calculated estimate (see our methodology) and label it as calculated, never as verified. We'd rather show an honest estimate than a false one.

Limitations, honestly stated

This is a community-maintained record, not a religious authority, and not an official mosque communication channel. For Jummah khutba timing or any other time-critical, high-stakes obligation, confirm directly with the mosque when in doubt. If you spot something that looks like vandalism or a bad-faith edit rather than an honest correction — as opposed to an ordinary timing disagreement, which is a community matter, per above — you're welcome to flag it to us at liveprayertime@gmail.com.
